Helping TV & Film Creators Pitch Projects More Effectively
My SMASH Media is a SaaS platform that helps TV and film creators build professional project pitches while enabling producers and commissioners to discover, evaluate and connect with new talent. As the lead Product Designer, I worked from discovery through MVP and ongoing product evolution, collaborating closely with founders and engineers to shape the platform experience.
The film and TV pitching process is often fragmented, relying on PDFs, presentations, and personal networks that make collaboration and discovery inefficient. We set out to design a SaaS platform that enables creators to build professional project pitches, protect their intellectual property, and connect with producers, investors, and collaborators through a curated, searchable marketplace.
Challenge
My Role
Lead Product Designer
I led the end-to-end product design of My SMASH Media, taking the platform from discovery through MVP, launch, and ongoing iteration as it evolved into a SaaS product used by thousands of TV & Film creators globally.

🧩 Scalable Design System
🎨 Wireframes, user flows, high-fidelity prototypes.
🤝 Developer Collaboration
The project began with a discovery phase focused on understanding the needs of both creators and industry professionals. Through producer interviews, founder workshops, and market research, I identified key user needs, pain points, and industry expectations. These insights informed the user journey, helped prioritise MVP features, and laid the foundation for the platform's information architecture before moving into wireframing and high-fidelity design.
Discovery
After mapping the end-to-end user journey, we collaborated with founders, engineers, and the wider design team to define the MVP. By prioritising the features that delivered the greatest value to users while remaining achievable within the project timeline, we established a focused first release and a roadmap for future iterations.
The MVP focused on:
Creating and managing project pitches
Secure project sharing and IP protection
Defining the MVP
Following MVP definition, I translated the prioritised features into low-fidelity wireframes to validate the platform structure, navigation, and content hierarchy before moving into visual design. Starting with quick hand sketches, I iterated on layouts before refining them into digital wireframes that could be reviewed with the team.
Exploring the Solution

As the platform evolved beyond its MVP, I built and maintained a scalable design system in Figma to support consistent product growth. I created reusable component libraries, established design patterns, and defined the foundations—including colour, typography, spacing, grids, icons, and responsive behaviours—to ensure a cohesive user experience across the platform. Working closely with engineers, I helped create a shared design language that accelerated delivery, reduced duplicated effort, and ensured accurate implementation of new features.
